Using games to defeat global financial meltdown

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty easily influenced. Guitar Hero on South Park? Out comes the ps2. Korea’s words are backed with nuclear weapons? Civ 4 time. Car chase on the 6 o clock news? Maybe I can stomach one more mission on GTA 4 after all. But with all the time devoted on the news to the continuing incompetence of world and business leaders, as they plunge us closer to complete financial meltdown, I find myself a little unsure as to what to play.Where’s the global financial sim genr

Knowing the man upstairs

About a year after I graduated high school, I got a job with a large manufacturing firm. It was a great job with good benefits. This was a company that was started by a genius-of-a-man who had invented a line of golf clubs that revolutionized the game. He was a quirky old guy… and, not surprisingly, quite the perfectionist. When he walked around the production floor people got a little edgy, because he was the type of guy that would walk right up to you and tell you that you were doing something

Last week’s letters and blog pingbacks in full

you can see that a new display somewhere, which was fresh rather than an upgrade, or a new games machine in an arcade, is a much more likely venue for 3D than a television screen near you anytime soon. The expenditure is only the first of the reasons. The second is that the equipment needed to generate the 3D image is much more complex when it comes to filming real people – who make up the majority of the pictures on TV – than a logo, game animation or an

Carnival Fantasy Log Part 2….And The Worst Poem You Will Ever Read

Jump to CommentsANYONE who’s ever watched Dragon’s Den on BBC America knows the world is full of people with ridiculous ideas for making money. “Yes, Duncan. I’ve invented a pair of underpants which, at the touch of a button, can be turned into a food blender.” Next . . . “Thank you, Duncan. I need a million dollars to market a special tape which can tell whether the peanuts on a bar counter have too much urine on them because people touch them without washing their hands.” Next . . . Things ar

My Review of A Community Called Atonement, by Scot McKnight

I recently pubished a review of A Community Called Atonement, by Scot McKnight (Abingdon, 2007), in Horizons in Biblical Theology 30/2 (2008): pp. 194-196. The journal allows that “the author may post the post-print version of the contribution on his/her own personal website free of charge.” That is a very generous allowance, which should be taken advantage of. Thus, here is my review (© Koninklijke Brill NV, Leiden, 2008 DOI: 10.1163/187122008X340932). Comments welcome:Stephen L. Cook, Review o

As golf players, we are always pushing to perfect our game. It is a continual battle for improvement that seams never ending. Even the professional golfers are constantly working on their game. When you see even the pros struggling to maintain a constant level, that shows you how difficult golf can be. Do you know that only about 5% of golfers Worldwide can break 70? The Fall of ‘New Money’ Country Clubs

Filed under: Wealth It has certainly happened before and as much as it stinks to draw another comparison to the Great Depression it seems country clubs made of ‘new money’ may follow the same path as one-third of the clubs did back then. Across the U.S. clubs are shutting their gates and greens one after another from the Gold Creek Golf Club in Dawsonville, Georgia to Golf Club of California in San Diego. Even Sea Island in coastal Georgia, which once ranked near the top in golf courses of the

Man Fashion: Golf Clothing for Men

Lately, I’m addicted to a new sport. Yes, golf, and to my surprise, this game is more challenging that what I thought and see! I believe some of the golfers do agree with me. In the past few weeks, I have spent most of my time searching for golf apparels, golf clubs and related accessories that are fashionable and yet within my budget. Of course it is not difficult to find golf apparels in the
